Franz Kafka

This work was created for a benefit auction in support of the Leontinka Foundation as part of the Generali Human Safety Net project.

The main motif of the painting is the eyes of Franz Kafka — a writer who worked at the Prague insurance company Generali at the beginning of his professional career. It was his experience with the official world, human fragility and loneliness that later deeply influenced his literary work.

A red line runs through the painting — the symbolic route of the cycle ride from Cheb to Ostrava. The line is not just a route on a map. It is made up of a text inspired by Kafka's idea: "We humans should stand before each other with love."

The red color refers to the identity of Generali, the gold dots resemble lights, human encounters and the path of help that connects people across the republic.

The painting thematically connects vision and humanity. Here, the eyes are not just a portrait of Franz Kafka, but a symbol of the ability to see another person — with respect, sensitivity and acceptance. This idea deeply resonates with the mission of the Leontinka Foundation, which supports families of children with visual impairments and helps them in the first and most important years of life.
